Getting around

I-4 and Florida's Turnpike cross the county, with toll roads SR 408, SR 417, SR 429 and SR 528 linking the suburbs, the airport and the attractions. Expect tolls on many daily commutes. Test the drive at the hour you would actually travel.

Hurricanes and flooding

Orange County is inland, so plan for wind, heavy rain and standing water rather than storm surge. The county storm portal covers preparation, shelters and alerts.

Taxes and county offices

Florida has no state income tax. Property taxes are set by address, and a homestead exemption can cut up to $50,000 from your home's taxable value if you apply with the property appraiser by March 1.
