Getting around

I-275 and US 19 run north–south. The Howard Frankland Bridge, Gandy Boulevard and the Courtney Campbell Causeway (SR 60) cross the bay to Tampa, and bridge traffic shapes most commutes. Test the drive at the hour you would actually travel.

Hurricanes and flooding

Evacuation zones reflect storm surge risk, and mobile and manufactured homes must evacuate when ordered. Flood zones are separate and affect insurance, so check both for the exact address.

Taxes and county offices

Florida has no state income tax. Property taxes are set by address, and a homestead exemption can cut up to $50,000 from your home's taxable value if you apply with the property appraiser by March 1.
